Explorer Family

Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy explains what personal information Explorer Family collects, why, and how it’s handled. "We", "us", "our" means [LEGAL ENTITY NAME].

Who this applies to

Explorer Family is a parent-facing service. Only parents/guardians create accounts and log in — children never register or log in themselves. Where this policy discusses "your child’s information," it means information you, the parent/guardian, choose to add to your own account.

Information we collect

From you directly:

  • Account details: name, email address, password (stored securely — we never see or store your plain-text password)
  • Payment information: handled entirely by our payment processors, Paystack and Flutterwave — we do not store your card details ourselves
  • Your child’s first name and birth year, which you add to personalise age-appropriate content — we do not ask for or need your child’s full legal name, photo, school, or address
  • Anything you send us directly, e.g. via email or our contact form

Automatically:

  • Basic technical data (IP address, browser type, device type) collected when you use the Site, for security and to keep the Site working properly

How we use your information

  • To provide the Site: create and manage your account, run your free trial and membership, personalise activities to your child’s age, and process payments
  • To communicate with you: transactional emails (receipts, renewal reminders, password resets) via our email provider, Resend, and — if you choose to join it — our WhatsApp community, operated on WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Inc.)
  • To keep the Site secure and improve it over time

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of service providers to run Explorer Family, each of whom only receives the information they need to do their job:

  • Supabase — account authentication and our database
  • Sanity — the content management system behind our activities, articles, and Faith & Family content
  • Paystack and Flutterwave — payment processing
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Inc.) — our optional parent community
  • Vercel — website hosting

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Explorer Family or our users.

Your child’s information

You control what you tell us about your child. We only ever ask for a first name and birth year, used solely to show age-appropriate content inside your account — never made public, never shared with other members, and never used for anything beyond that personalisation. You can update or remove your child’s profile information from your account at any time.

How long we keep information

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we’ll delete or anonymise your personal information within [X days/months] unless we’re required to keep it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, email [SUPPORT EMAIL].

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee perfect security. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside your home country. Where they do, we rely on their own compliance safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses) to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we make changes. We encourage you to check back periodically.
